Our message

Everyone loves animals, right? So why is it that the entire global farm animal movement has less money to spend in a year than McDonalds makes in two weeks of profits?

The animal welfare movement has made massive progress over the last decades to find super effective ways to help animals at scale. But one of the biggest bottlenecks to helping more is a lack of funding.

On the other hand, we so often turn away people who want to help by telling them they don’t really love animals unless they ‘go vegan’.

FarmKind is trying to change the script: instead of the black and white: “go vegan or nothing”, we’re helping to build a more inclusive, wider movement to help end factory farming by showing people the power of donating and encouraging them to give to some of the most effective charities working to end factory farming.

Our message is simple and non-judgmental: "Anyone can be part of the solution to factory farming, regardless of their diet." Instead of making people feel guilty about what's on their plate, we focus on the broken system and show them how to support the organizations changing it.

What we do

FarmKind is a non-profit showing there's more than one way to help fix factory farming: We emphasize effective giving as a powerful action anyone can take. We work with experts to identify some of the most effective charities working on this issue and promote them to the general public.

Our flagship product is the ‘Compassion Calculator’, which allows anyone to easily do as much to prevent farm animal suffering through donations as cutting animal products out of their diet all together.

FarmKind was founded in early 2024 by Aidan Alexander and Thom Norman and was incubated by Ambitious Impact (Charity Entrepreneurship).

Why work with us

  • Meaningful work: Above all, this is a chance to do something that could make a big positive difference in the world, for animals, the environment and public health. Our ambitious goal is to turn every $1 we spend into $5 donated to the movement to end factory farming.

  • High autonomy: We want to empower you to make decisions, manage budgets and work with agility.

  • Chance to be creative: This isn't a "follow the playbook" role. It’s a role that requires you to find creative new ideas and invent a new playbook.

  • Work directly with the founders: Work alongside FarmKind’s founders and be a part of the early team guiding FarmKind’s strategy and growth.

  • Flexible working: Work the hours that make sense for you, from where ever you want.

You're morally ambitious. You are excited by our goal: to help close the farmed animal funding gap and turn every $1 we spend into $5 donated to the movement to end factory farming within 5 years. Seeing that impact grow from your direct contributions is exactly the kind of challenge that gets you up in the morning.

You want to help build something different and meaningful. This isn't a "follow the playbook" role. You'll be empowered to take risks, make decisions, and be proactive in shaping both your role and FarmKind's future. You thrive when given ownership over important projects and the freedom to figure out creative solutions. The startup energy – where you can take on new challenges, learn rapidly, and work alongside passionate people who care as much about effectiveness as you do – is what excites you. Whether you're early in your career looking to accelerate your impact or experienced and eager to apply your skills to something that matters, you're ready to stretch yourself.

The anti-pitch

This isn't a role with established processes and large budgets: You'll need to achieve what other organizations do with far more resources using creativity, scrappiness, and strategic thinking. If you prefer clear processes, large budgets, or working within well-established systems, this probably isn't the right fit.

We're in the animal welfare space, which presents a unique marketing challenge: Most people care about animals and know factory farming is wrong, but they're deeply defensive about the topic because they expect animal welfare advocates to judge them about their diet. You’ll need to find ways to disarm these defenses, positioning FarmKind as the friendly face of animal advocacy, coming with an inclusive, non-judgmental solution.

We’re looking for someone who sees these constraints as an exciting puzzle to solve, is irrepressible in the face of knock-backs and is comfortable with failing fast and often.

Recruitment Process

  • Application: Fill out the application form, indicating which role(s) you are applying for

  • Application review: We'll review applications on a rolling basis

  • Take-home task: From 20th June, selected applicants will complete a practical marketing exercise

  • Interviews: From July 1st, selected applicants will be invited to interview with the two co-founders

  • Start date: We aim to have a new team member in seat by 1st September

FarmKind operates an non-discriminatory tender procedure. We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups and will consider candidates who may not check every box but are excited about the mission. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t think you are fully qualified for this role.

In particular, we want to be clear that you don't need to follow any particular diet—in fact, if you're not vegan, that's likely an advantage since you'll better understand the psychology and hesitations of our target audience.

Remuneration Philosophy

The less our team members ask for in pay, the more money we can direct toward helping farmed animals. We value people who are willing to ask for only what they genuinely need rather than what they could command elsewhere. For context, both co-founders are currently on $45.3k. We recognize this approach isn't for everyone, but it's core to how we maximize impact per dollar spent.

Head of Growth

The Role

Own FarmKind’s marketing function: Help put our unique message in front of hundreds of thousands of potential donors, convert them and maximise their lifetime value.

From day one you’ll have direct access to the founders, participate in leadership calls, and control a clear budget to deploy—giving you the freedom to test high-risk, high-reward strategies that bigger organizations can’t touch. As we expand, you’ll set the strategy and manage the people who execute it, becoming a key member of FarmKind’s senior leadership team as we grow.

This is a chance to stretch yourself and push for excellence at a lean, mission-driven organization with serious growth potential.

You'll take the lead on developing and evolving our marketing strategy, identifying new growth opportunities, and planning major initiatives. We need someone who can hit the ground running with strategic thinking and execution in resource-constrained environments.

This role is ideal for someone with marketing experience (especially in small, resource constrained non-profits) who wants the opportunity to play a large role in shaping the strategic direction of a non-profit’s outreach.

  • Remuneration of ~$50,000 USD (flexible depending on experience level, location and needs)

  • Fully remote with flexible hours (access to free co-working space at Ambitious Impact’s office in London)

  • Evolve our marketing strategy and execute to raise as much money for our recommended charities as possible

  • Plan and execute experiments to identify new ‘profitable’ channels to grow FarmKind’s donor base

  • Work with the founders to expand FarmKind’s existing ‘earned media’ outreach (securing podcast appearances for the founders, Substack features, traditional media etc.)

  • Increase the FarmKind platform’s conversion rate through improved user experience, and persuasive content

  • Run targeted and cost effective market research tests to hone FarmKind’s messaging to improve donation conversion rates across outreach activities

  • Grow FarmKind’s mailing list and improve the conversion rate of both non-donors to donors and one off donors to repeat donors
